STORY

For those who don’t know the whole story, ours didn’t begin with a Hollywood rom-com coffee shop moment. It began with a little courage, a swipe right, and a match that would set the course for the rest of our lives.

Several postcodes, countless adventures and one spotted dog later, life together has become our greatest adventure. We’ve built a home and a life we love, and somehow it still feels like the journey is only just beginning.

The proposal was completely true to who we are.

We had headed to the Hunter Valley for a few nights away and stopped in Cessnock on the drive down to stretch our legs. After a quick walk along the main street, I told Dylan we wouldn’t be coming back to Cessnock anytime soon. This detail becomes important later.

A couple of days later, after visiting a few wineries, Dylan became strangely determined that we needed to drive back to Cessnock IGA for charcuterie supplies. Keep in mind, it was half an hour away from where we were staying. After some debate, he won, and we found ourselves back in Cessnock.

Once we arrived, Dylan disappeared for a while. I was far too annoyed about the unnecessary trip to question where he had gone. Unbeknownst to me, he was collecting the engagement ring from the post office. The mission involved in getting it delivered there, and getting it there on time, is a whole other story.

Later, back at the vineyard where we were staying, Dylan was suddenly very insistent that we take a photo. Anyone who knows Dylan knows that him willingly suggesting a photo is unusual, so I immediately knew something was up. I managed to spoil the surprise by guessing what he was doing, but honestly, we wouldn’t have had it any other way.

It was imperfect, funny and completely us.
We can’t wait to begin our next chapter with all of you there to celebrate alongside us.
